Agua Azul, Mi-sol ha y Palenque

Yesterday I went to Palenque, Agua Azul, and Misol-ha. Not knowing the area I went with a tour group. The surrounding areas of Chiapas are gorgeous, with many small indigenous towns and stores along the way. There were many valleys, mountain, lakes, and rivers in Chiapas. The highway we used was very curvy with many speed bumps, and we also had to slow down often because of all the small towns.
There were about ten people in the tour group, from different places within Mexico. We first went to Agua Azul which is a series of many, many waterfalls. Next time I am definitely bring my swimming suit. Then we went to Mi-sol ha, which is a waterfall over hundred feet high. There is a trail under the waterfall were one can walk. The water felt like bath water. It was absolutely beautiful.
Palenque was unfathomable to me. A whole city built by hand with no domesticated animals, before the wheel, they had everything figured out down to their sewage system. Incredible! Each building served a different purpose. From burial chambers, religious centers, astrological houses, to bathing and sleeping corners, artist areas, to socializing houses.
It was very hot in the low lands. I am glad to be back home after the ten hour drive and the heat. I will write again soon.
